In the Chunkopo complex of the Early Postclassic, Slate ceramics such as
Muna Slate and Dzitas Slate disappear. Vista Alegre is still the major unslipped
type, but at the end of the period, Navula Unslipped begins to appear. In this
period, we have the first appearance of Peto Cream ware in both the Kukula Cream
and the Xcanchacan Black-on-cream types.
Test pit 11 again provides useful evidence in levels 5 and 6 of the
arrival of Kukula Cream during the decline of Vista Alegre as the prodominant
unslipped type and the arrival of Navula Unslipped of the Late Postclassic.
Vessel forms are primarily those of the previous period: plates, dishes,
and large jars of Viste Alegre Striated, and a full suite of forms from the Muna
group. |
