In the Late Postclassic Chunchukum complex there is a predominance of
Nuvula group ceramics, and a very few slipped sherds. The Late Postclassic
Navula Unslipped is found in abundance across the site; in addition, certain
specific (ceremonial) locations produced mostly Chen Mul Modeled censer sherds,
as may be seen in the case of test pit 25.
The Navula group supplies a range of dishes, bowls, and large jars forms
for this time period, as well as the fancifully-made Chen Mul Modeled censers.
At Muyil, as elsewhere, these censers are often found associated with small
shrines and temples in ceremonial settings. They are abundant along the eastern
portion of the sacbe system at Muyil. |
